Split werks

Today I cut out the left sidepanel from the '52 split.

Because of some bad repairs, and a loooooooooooot of bondo, the only thing to do was weld in a whole new one.

This week we will start fitting the sidepanel, welding will be done next weekend!

update on the oval

Did a lot the last days, but a lot of stuff you don't see on the car :)

Gascable, chokecable, Wired the engine, fuellines conected, mounted the wipers; small things, but it needs to be done also!

today I mounted the left runningboard, rearbumper and bumperbar, venttrim .....really starts to look like a car again ;)

Minor updates

Just some small updates, didn't do much.......

Installed the taillights on the oval, reaaaaaaaaaaaal carefull :)

And the left fender for the '52 is ready and has the first layers of filler!

More tomorrow!

Day three, It's almost drivable :)

I had the day off, so another 12 hours were made on the car :)

three fenders are mounted, right runningboard, red-tip turnsignal handle, Blaupunkt Bremen installed and polished, the engine is in, the AMPCO kit is mounted, etc etc etc

I'm exhausted!!

Progress on the oval, day 2

Not to much progress today, we started a bit late and we had to quit early.

But we got some sunburn, and the window is in, some trim is added, switches, T-handle.....it's going fast!

Oval time!

Today we picked up the oval from the painter!

I told overybody that the first thing that I wanted to mount was the tacho; so that piece went in right away :D
And after that the speedo, the ashtray, the glovebox, the steeringcolomn..........damn, bulding up goes fast!
When we keep a tempo like this, the car can be at budel, you never know ;)

When we bought the split, the windows were stuck because they were hold up by a piece of wood in the door.

When you tried to get the window upworths, the last 4 inches wouldn't go any further :(

So today I took averything apart, and I noticed the gears were worn.

And for a 60 year old car, those things are hard to find, and when you find one....it's expensive!!

So I welded some new teeth on the cogwheel, and it works perfect now!

After re-installing all the parts we mounted the "new" splitwindow doorpanels, nico.....thnx!!

City of Doel

Just to stay out of Volkswagens for a day, we went to a small abandoned town called Doel.
This small village lays next to the nuclear plant, and that's the reason everybody left that city years ago.
Really sick to walk around the empty streets and have a look in the "immaculate" houses that are left behind.
But........if we ever want to do a photoshoot with the '52 or '55, we know where we have to go!

Fresh paint for the oval !

There was a small delay because the original L275 was really hard to get.....but the inside is painted!

Probably the outside is painted too at the moment, but I hadn't have time to have look today.

Wheels for the split

The Enkei's are ON!

What a superwheels, we always liked them, and now was the time to mount a set on the split.

Here are the first pictures, we will take the car outside this saturday :)

2nd fender has been welded too, my friend Bjorn will take car of the rest.
